Michael B. Nelson is the founder of Canyon Horizon LLC, a multi-partner collaborative technology company serving education, small, and medium business platforms meeting their virtual Information Technology Department needs, specializing in ‘just-in-time’ high-level technical support. With services ranging from long term managed service contracts, project management services, technology sales, and one-time enterprise projects, Canyon Horizon serves businesses across the United States.

 As a consultant, Michael has translated technology through public speaking to audiences of administrators, educators, and school boards. He has traveled on-site to perform project management, diagnose, and design enterprise technology infrastructure.

 In his spare time, Michael leans into his artistic side. He has published various short stories and is currently self-publishing fiction. His novels are featured in the FICTION tab on this site.

Michael attended Northern Arizona University on a full-ride music scholarship, majoring in music education and minoring in computer science. He then led competitive marching bands in Arizona, Oregon, and California over fourteen years to fifteen separate championships. In the year 2000, Michael pivoted to technology, and the following year became the technology director of a 2000 student 450 staff school district in Arizona, where he managed over 50 servers at 10 sites and 7 schools with a department of 14 employees, and secured over 10 million in E-rate funding over fourteen years. He was then recruited to work as the General Manager of two privately owned IT companies before founding his own.

Michael’s unique ability to speak the language of both technology and administration, as well as his belief that when IT is done right, a seamless environment is created where people can get their job done and transition smoothly between tasks and projects, is fueling the next level of his professional enterprises. Michael is launching technology courses and guides that capture the mentoring he has done for other technology professionals, administrators, and businesses over the years.
